Drum Brakes

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
In a drum brake, the pressurized fluid from the master cylinder actuates the pistons in the wheel cylinder. The pistons force the drum shoe and lining (or friction material) against the drum surface, generating a braking force. This force is then reacted through the drum backing plate and suspension, slowing the wheel and the vehicle.
PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY
Drum brakes are a good alternative to caliper/disc systems when cost is a priority to the OEM. With proper sizing and system tuning, drum brakes can perform well in many applications. BWI Group utilizes our knowledge to optimize brake feel and noise performance.
PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
Industry-competitive leading/trailing designs are available in a full portfolio to support small car to full size truck and SUV applications.
