Description
Anti-lock brake systems (ABS) have been a key safety feature on vehicles since the 1980’s. Monitoring wheel speed inputs, the system senses when the driver brakes harder than the road conditions support. Individual wheel brake pressures are regulated by the ABS modulator and electronics to improve vehicle stability and steerability while minimizing stopping distances.
Technology/Customer Benefits
Additional features include
  • Dynamic Rear Proportioning (DRP), which electronically adjusts rear brake pressures to maintain brake balance. This eliminates the need for proportioning valves.
  • Corner Brake Distribution (CBD) is available which regulates brake balance and enhances stability while braking and steering.
  • ETS: Engine Traction System is available which monitors driven wheel speeds for signs of wheel spin and communicates engine torque adjustments to improve launches and acceleration on slippery road conditions.
Applications
ABS systems are available for a wide range of passenger vehicles from small cars to trucks and sport utility vehicles.
