Many factors influence the design of a chassis. The requirements include mass, cost, ride, handling, styling, loads, assembly, and packaging. Chassis system design is the process to synthesize, analyze, optimize, and realize a chassis design that balances the tradeoffs between vehicle and chassis requirements.
For example, a rear suspension designed by BWIGroup shows a modular multilink independent rear driven suspension system designed to provide superior ride and handling characteristics. The suspension and structure are designed to allow the load floor to be lowered, allowing additional seating and cargo space. This design enables an excellent linkage ratio for low frame loads by allowing the coil spring to act on a longitudinal arm. In addition, the bushing tuning and flexibility provided by the use of multiple links provides a low recessional rate that enhances ride comfort and meets the dynamic response targets of the vehicle.

BWIGroup’s heritage as a part of vehicle OEM enables us to understand both the OEM and supplier perspective and needs. We work with OEM to optimize both the chassis module and the vehicle module too.
